The Cathedral Museum of Florence is better known as Museo dell’ Opera del Duomo. Perhaps less widely known than other Florence museums, it is well worth a visit in view of the many treasures it contains ( see below). It is easily accessible and offers a unique insight to understand better the life and development of the magnificent cathedral and the baptistery.
Who is the visit to the Museo dell’ Opera recommended for?

What happens:
we will visit the Baptistery admiring its marvellous mosaics and marble inlays and the cathedral to discover the ruins of the ancient Santa Reparata church and the magnificence of the gothic construction. Later we will reach the Museo dell’Opera to observe the Medieval sculptures that used to decorate the baptistery doors, to realize how the former duomo façade looked like, to admire Donatello’s and Luca della Robbia’s works, to enjoy the sight of the renewed Gate of Paradise and the Bandini Pietà by Michelangelo.
